Vision and Values

Our Vision
To be an open community of people exploring relationship with God, self and others, following the way of Jesus.

Our Values
Southern Community Church of Christ is a Christ-centred church where:

People Matter: we value diversity, inclusion, and empowerment of all people.

Community Matters: we aspire to generously serve the community, meeting human needs and addressing injustice.

Spirituality Matters: we aspire to communicate Christian faith and values with clarity, creativity, grace and compassion.

Life Matters: we aspire to support and offer resources to people in their pursuit of wholeness and wellbeing.

Southern Community Church of Christ is affiliated with Churches of Christ in Victoria & Tasmania (CCVT). We are a movement of more than 130 Communities of Hope and
Compassion spread across Victoria and Tasmania. CCVT is the coordinating body that exists to support these diverse communities in their God-given calling to their neighbourhoods.

Our collective mission is: To be a movement of the people of God gathering in and around the central figure of Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, living out his Way in our
neighbourhoods and inviting others to do the same.

Our movement is a diverse bunch. We do not wear robes or vestments, we discourage hierarchy, are not focused on creeds and fixed ways of holding worship services. We sing
modern songs and ancient hymns, utilise IT and candles. We believe in ‘the priesthood of all believers.’ That is, we hope to help you find your fit, place and way of participation and
service amongst us and the community.

Southern Community Church of Christ is an active community of faith located in Cheltenham, a bayside suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.
